Minimum Income Guarantee
|
The minimum income guarantee (MIG) was (the MIG is being
incorporated into the new pension credit effective from April 2003) a state pension benefit designed
to supplement your income if it falls below a certain threshold.
From April 2002 the MIG was £98.15 per week for a single person
and £149.80 per week for a married couple. However it may be higher in
certain circumstances such as if you
-
are disabled and live alone or with
another disabled person
-
are a carer getting invalid care
allowance
-
have certain housing costs that are not
covered by Housing Benefit
-
or your partner get child benefit
If you are not sure than contact your local social security
office.
The MIG has become an element of the pension credit from April
2003 so read the guide to the Pension Credit
for further information.
